The Infection Control Coordinator is responsible to ensure development, implementation and monitoring of the Infection Prevention Plan for Mercy Fort Smith Community and Fort Smith Communities Critical Access Hospitals. Identifies opportunities to improve care and assists all departments in achieving the goal of zero infections. Is available for consultation and ensures all rules and regulations are followed related to Infection Control. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Because you re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That s why you ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:
Education: Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing; ADN, Diploma, Bachelors or Master's
Licensure: Must have current RN license in Arkansas
Experience: Five to seven years clinical nursing and/or public health experience required. Must be knowledgeable of epidemiologic principles, infectious diseases and in the methods of sterilization, sanitation and infection practices.
Other: Good oral and written communication skills, teaching skills, nursing assessment skills, knowledge of injection techniques, good record keeping/clerical skills and strong human relations skills. Knowledge and skills needed regarding principles of education.
Preferred Education: BSN or MSN preferred.
Preferred Experience: Certified and practice experience as an Infection Control Practitioner in an acute care hospital.
Preferred Other: The Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner is responsible for: An integrated process to reduce risks of infection through surveillance, prevention and control activities. Implements policies and procedures that describe the role and scope of the hospital-wide program which functions under the authority of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee performs daily surveillance of infections and classifies.
